Western Province gunning for maximum points at JB Marks Oval

World Sports Betting Western Province men know the importance of getting over the line when they visit JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on Friday evening in the CSA T20 Challenge Round 11.

Dropped to fourth position in the standings with 23 points after 10 games, a win on Friday is vital for Salieg Nackerdien’s charges who will be looking to come back with the maximum points against the Auto Investment Dragons.

The match is set to start at 18:00 and will be streamed live on the SuperSport YouTube channel.

Speaking at training at World Sports Betting Newlands on Wednesday, Nackerdien admits the game on Friday is an important one.

“The Dragons game is one of the important games going into this last part of the campaign. I think, if we can say it, every game is an important game for us, said Nackerdien.

“Everybody’s got a chance to get into the semis. It’s important that we also do the basics right – if we play the way we can play and obviously make the right decisions at the right times.

“We need to make sure that we express ourselves properly and also gain momentum that we didn’t have in the previous sort of eight games.

“So, I think it’s massive for us to just not focus too far yet, but on the game that’s in front of us, that’s the Dragons in Potchefstroom.”

Province is not far from making it to the semi-finals and Nackerdien believes if the team applies the right mentality in the remaining matches nothing can stop them.

“I think at the end of the day it’s that we want to work towards a common goal, and that is to reach another semi-final and possibly a final,” he said.

“But it all depends on how we’re going to apply the basics on Friday and the intensity that we’re going to bring to the table against a very good Dragons side.

“We take nothing for granted, but like I said, it’s important that we all are focused.”

Nackerdien added: “Obviously getting this win under our belt will give us momentum going forward,” he adds.

“And also, the Sunday game that also is an important game against the [Hollywoodbets] Dolphins.

“So, we’ve have had a nice practice today [Wednesday] and tomorrow [Thursday] we’ll have a top up session. And looking forward to the challenge on Friday evening. So, that’s an important game for us to get over the line.”
