The Proteas have had their worst year with the bat but still the Brains Trust persists with the 5-1-5 formation. We are short on runs yet we select one bowler more than other Test teams (with the exception of teams with genius all-rounders). Our bowlers are arguably the best bowling attack in the world… yet we keep selecting an extra bowler each Test… but the problem is that the extra bowler seldom gets much bowling time… so, a place wasted that could have gone to a batter.
