Sweet music to a bowler’s ears

Christo van Staden of Kovsies Cricket Club has his stumps rattled by Clares Cricket Club opening bowler Brandon Scullard in the Momentum National Club Championships in Pretoria on Sunday 14 April 2019.

Van Staden played around a quick delivery from Scullard to end the Kovsies innings on a disappointing 144, with the bowler picking up 1/23 from 7.2 overs. Van Staden’s 11 runs came off 27 balls. The Kovsies innings lasted just 44.2 overs, whiles Clares cruised to victory with 24.2 overs to spare.

The event, which is put together by Cricket South Africa (CSA), encompasses the six outright winners of the Franchise regional play-offs, all playing against each other in a 50-over format.
